“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
-Rumi
My legs became waterfalls pouring out onto the ground when I heard the words, “Your mother just passed”. My sister caught my body in her arms just before it hit the cold hard floor. When I could stand again, I draped my body on my mother’s in her stillness. My tears poured out all over her. All over her hands that held me. All over her heart that loved me. All over her belly that wove my body cell by cell with love.
My tears were the outpouring of a powerful love. Like an anointing. It was holy.

In another story of outpouring, a woman, carrying an alabaster jar, said by many to be Mary Magdalene, poured her tears all over the feet of Jesus and wiped them with her hair. Then poured her jar of expensive perfume and anointed him with it in preparation for his death. An outpouring of love.
When the other disciples accused her of being wasteful with such an expensive oil, Jesus rebuked them saying, “it was intended that she should save the oil for his day. She was preparing for my funeral when she anointed my body. Whenever the gospel (good news) is proclaimed all over the world, what she has done will be told in praise of her.”
YOU are the outpouring of Divine love. Anointed. Holy. Every part of you a sacred expression, the essence of this love.
Rumi said, “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” We must go within and confront these barriers that keep us from our true essence. All the messages we accepted that were anything less than love outpoured, became boulders rolled in front of the source of love entombing us, keeping us small, dimming our light, blocking the flow.

A Practice:
I invite you to look within and find the barriers or boulders keeping you small.
What is standing in the way of the eternal flow of Divine love from within you? What messages can you release?
Create your own ritual that symbolizes the removal of all that blocks love and unleash the flow. Perhaps you might use your best essential oils and anoint yourself. Use your tears if that’s all you have. Wipe them with your hair.
Push the barriers and boulders out of the way and in the name of the holy outpouring of LOVE, resurrect yourself.
