Shedding my unconscious participation with speeding the calamity of Mother Earth
I enter the Lenten season with somber reflection
Guilty of
Usury without awareness
Consumption without intentionality
I let go of my willful participation
With ignorance
We are made of dust
Cosmic, universal
Not meant to be trapped
in the smallness of excessive waste
We are made of dust
Earth seed
Regenerative, populating the ground
From mindful care
Fasting toxicity
Destruction is not bliss
We are all
Suffering while sleepwalking
How is Gaia beckoning me to be more
aware?
Reduce single use plastic
Revere every drop of water as precious
Empty my “add to cart”
Love is doing our part
Love is how
we hold
The hum of the earth
In reverent truth
How are we complicit?
How are we supporting our home
Living in participatory concert
With the land and its gifts?
Love is being inconvenienced
for the sake of the land
Love is harming our water sources less
Love is living large in my being
and small in my carbon footprint
Landfills are bludgeoned
under the weight of excessive spending
Fashions trending
Invented seasons for insta worthy glory
Post to story
Influenced by capitalism’s lore
Gorge. Hoard
Use. Discard.
Trampling the earth underneath our madness
What can we let go?
What is this season inviting us into?
Am I alone?
Can you too hear the cry of the earth?
Do we slow our spending
Our hurried pace enough to hear her wail
What will you let go?
How is the earth speaking to you?
May we enter the season
with 40 days of
Shedding
Releasing
Fasting
Being
Only you can know for you
What Love is inviting you into
Be still and know
The deep voice of wisdom
That lies within
Will lead you to what’s yours
To do
oh I need to reread this a few times Felicia, challenging!
Love that the piece is stirring the invitation to sit with it. Thank you!
